Who are the companies offering the best services to mums and dads? Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards reveal all.

Just over half a million votes were cast in Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards by parents up and down the country earlier this year. The 20 categories included Best Supermarket, Best Family Restaurant and Best High Street Retailer.

The Awards, which have been running for 12 years, credit companies that are taking parents’ needs into consideration and helping to make their lives less stressful. A recent Tommy’s survey revealed that 79% of people find it stressful being a new parent, struggling to find even the most basic services and facilities to accommodate their new family, leaving many at risk of isolation from muchneeded support networks. The survey also highlighted the lack of parent/baby facilities in the UK and the negative attitude of the travelling public towards parents with young children. Tommy’s Parent Friendly Awards are clearly essential to ensure more companies do the best by parents and provide them with the services they so desperately need.

Jane Brewin, Chief Executive of Tommy’s, says: “One of Tommy’s aims is to make life less stressful for parents and parents-to-be, so we are proud to be able to reward the most parent-friendly organisations that are giving parents with young children a helping hand. There’s still work to be done to make Britain more parent friendly, but so far Tommy’s has rewarded over 150 companies in the UK with a Parent Friendly Award.

We would like to think we’re driving best practice and encouraging more companies to follow suit.” Tommy’s is the UK’s only charity solely dedicated to maximising healthcare in pregnancy.
