Car seats for all stages

Children’s car seat specialist concord is the driving force behind an award-winning range of seats

German children’s car seat company Concord is making its mark in the UK by offering a seat for every phase of growth guaranteeing maximum safety and comfort.

As a specialist in child car seats, Concord designs and manufactures innovative, user-friendly products and takes a huge responsibility for our children’s safety. The seats – manufactured at Concord’s Bavarian premises in Stadtsteinach, Germany – are not just safe and comfortable, but also have to be enjoyable to use. Based on a user-friendly holistic approach, its seats are always developed from the point of view of finding the ideal combination of the highest level of safety, exceptional wellbeing and comfort and a harmonious product design – a reflection of the German engineering and design excellence at the heart of the company.

Although it has maintained a presence in the UK for a number of years, Concord is now targeting this market for significant growth and has been developing a dedicated UK team. “Concord is able to enter the UK market on the basis of its strong name and first-rate reputation in Europe,” says Martyn Still, UK Sales Director. “We have been developing contacts here in the UK, and are very pleased to now have a team on board to service them.

“The past year has been great for Concord,” says Martyn, “with the strengthening of our position in the UK, exemplified by the hugely positive reaction to the launch of Ultimax here. Designed for children from birth up to the age of four (up to 18kg), it is effectively two seats in one – both rear and front facing. Maximum safety for the very young is assured by keeping the seat in a rear-facing position for as long as possible, and by a perfect seat-body ratio.”

Concord put all its car seats through extensive crash tests, carried out by independent organisations. The tests are from front, rear and side collisions, to ensure maximum safety in all their seats. Innovative new products are always critical to Concord, which will strive to ensure the best for its customers. Most recently, all the X-Line range of seats are coated in Teflon, to protect against dirt. While there is no change to the natural look of the seat, the Teflon repels oily and watery liquids, and provides increased resistance to dry dirt. Spilt liquids can be dabbed dry using a cloth, without leaving any residue on the fabric. The Teflon does not affect the breathability of the fabric, either.

The Concord website is available in several European languages, and contains information on UK stockists, as well as a comprehensive film of how to fit the Concord seats. See www.concord.de. An installation manual can be downloaded and there is plenty of advice on how to choose the right seat for your child.

Ultimax Car Seat

Ultimax is designed to carry a new born, up until the age of about four years old (up to 18kg). It changes with the child, ensuring maximum safety at every stage of growth. The new Ultimax seating concept meets two fundamental criteria to enhance safety: prolonging the rear-facing sitting position for very young children, and compatibility between the seat and the height of the child. The Ultimax seat has four ingenious systems:

Concord’s Ultimax car seat has already received major accolades: It is joint winner of The Baby & Child Fair and Nursery Magazine Show Product of the Year Award 2004, and achieved coveted “gut” (good) accreditation in AutoBild magazine, and received the Mother & Baby Best Value medallion.

Lift Evo

Concord’s Lift Evo seat is designed for children from approximately three to 12 years (15 to 36kg, Groups II & II). The seat has been tested for optimum protection against side impact, and a seven-point adjustable headrest means that it can grow with your child. In the 2004 Eurotest, Lift Evo got the best rate for group II, II, especially for side impact, handling, easy washing and comfort in general, and a recent Which? survey recommended the Lift Evo, awarding it 71 points.

The innovative side wings give protection to the head and neck areas, which will move with accordance to the child’s height, and has a belt guide system, to ensure the seat belt rests correctly on the user’s shoulder, rather than on the neck area. The seat also gives high protection from side impact on the pelvic area. The recline wedge stabilises the position of the seat in the car seat when the child is sleeping.

This lightweight seat is easy to carry and install, and its covers are softly padded and removable for washing, with an innovative air circulation system.
